The Manohari Training Program was successfully conducted at the Vocational Training Center, Maskeliya, in the Nuwara Eliya District, from 18th to 20th September 2025. This residential program marked a significant milestone for the Centre for Human Rights and Development CHRD, which has been conducting psychosocial and wellbeing activities since 2022 primarily among waraffected victim communities in the North and East.
For the first time, CHRD extended this initiative to the Upcountry region in the Central Province, reaching the heart of the plantation sector. The program was organized by the International Medical Health Organization IMHO in collaboration with CHRD, focusing on raising social awareness through creative and engaging storytelling.
The Training of Trainers TOT brought together preschool teachers, medical assistants, welfare officers, CBO workers, and even a retired plantation education coordinator, providing a diverse learning environment.
The sessions were structured around six core modules: Anger, Jealousy, Observing the connection between emotions and behaviors, Taking responsibility for emotions and transforming behaviors, Recognizing and responding to the emotions of others, and Coping with peer pressure
The program was facilitated by Dr. Ganesan M., Mr. Ravindran S., and Ms. Pushparani F., who guided participants through interactive exercises designed to promote emotional understanding and personal growth.
