DTP wins 2019 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award

2019-12-10

The Diplomacy Training Program (DTP) has been recognised for 30 years of service to human rights across Asia, through training more than 3000 human rights defenders in over 60 countries in practical courses that build knowledge, skills and networks.
DTP received the prestigious 2019 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award in Taipei from the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD), on International Human Rights Day, December 10th. At the award ceremony, President Tsai Ing-wen presented the award plaque and the grant to the Diplomacy Training Program. The award honours individuals or organisations that have demonstrated long-term commitment and outstanding leadership on advancing democracy or human rights through peaceful means in Asia, Pacific and beyond. This is the first time the award has been given to an Australian organisation.
The Centre for Human Rights and Development (CHRD) takes this opportunity to congratulate DTP for winning the prestigious award. The CHRD too received the Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award in 2014 by TFD for its significant contributions to the advancement of Democracy and Human Rights in Asia through peaceful means.
