Special Task Force to take over prisons in Colombo

The Special Task Force (STF) will undertake the protection of Welikada prison, Magazine prison and Colombo remand prison (CPR).

The STF will involve in guarding the prison boundaries as well as perform security checks on people who visit the above mentioned prisons. This decision was made by the Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms.

However, 8 prison inmates had expressed their antagonism against this decision. Due to it they were transferred to various prisons in Galle, Matara and Monaragala on October 24, 2018.
