32 skeletal remains are found in the Mannar mass grave and more is expected to be found

More and more human skeletal remains are excavated in the ‘Lanka Sathosa’ compound as well as in the already excavated earth which is closer to the entrance to Mannar town.

The excavation process is being taking place for 40 days continuously and 32 human skeletal remains have been excavated as on 24th July 2018. In this mentioned date, skeletal remains of children were found. A discussion is held regarding this excavation process at the mannar magistrate court on the above-mentioned date.

This excavation is carried out under the purview of Mannar Magistrate A.G. Alexraja. Excavation is being carried out by various groups which comprises a team of judicial medical officers which is led by consultant Judicial Medical Officer A.S. Rajapaksha as well as a team of forensic archeologists led by Professor Raj Somadeva of the Kelaniya University.
