Another disabled civilian called for inquiry

2018-06-06

On May 24, 2018 a disabled man who lost his right hand and the left leg received a letter from Terrorist Investigations Department (TID) calling him for inquiry on May 28, 2018 at the 4th floor in Colombo. However, due to his disability he requested to have the enquiry in his own district Kilinochchi. Based on his request the TID held the enquiry in Kilinochchi on June 6, 2018.

It is important to note that many disabled people are called by the TID for enquiry in the recent months.

The disabled innocent civilians have lost their limbs due to land mine explosions or shelling have been arrested in the final stages of war and released after rehabilitation. Even after rehabilitation the TID considers these individuals as LTTE ex-cadres due to their disabilities.

CHRD also has observed in the last few months’ local activists, victims, rehabilitated carders, or released PTA detainees have been called by the TID for inquiry in Colombo and this has become a common trend.
