More skeletal remains excavated

More and more skeletal remains especially 16 human skulls are being excavated in the ‘Lanka Sathosa’ compound as well as in the already excavated earth which is close to the entrance to Mannar town on June 6, 2018.

The excavation process is being taking place for 8th day continuously and is expected to go on in the coming weeks. On the above-mentioned day 28 medical students from Medical Faculty in the Jaffna University arrived at the site observed and assisted the ongoing excavation process.

This excavation is carried out under the purview of Mannar Magistrate A.G. Alexraja. Excavation is being carried out by various groups which comprises a team of judicial medical officers which is led by consultant Judicial Medical Officer A.S. Rajapaksha as well as a team of forensic archeologists led by Professor Raj Somadeva of the Kelaniya University.
