Appointment of new CEO of the Center for Human Rights and Development

The Centre for Human Rights and Development (CHRD) is pleased to inform the appointment of Mr. Prem Mills as Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2018. Mr. Mills succeeds Ms. Mangaleswary Shanker, CEO/Program Manager.

Mr. Mills’ appointment as CEO was long awaited since CHRD is looking for a suitable candidate for this position. Having spent more than 30 years in the corporate and humanitarian sectors, he comes to us with extensive experience with a proven ability to manage multiple units and human resources, along with a strong commitment to results.

Mr. Mills was part of the Hayleys Group of Companies as senior executive for a 16 year tenure. Thereafter, he worked with internally displaced persons (IDPs) under the UNHCR funded projects at the Refugee Rehabilitation Organization.

He attended the University of Moratuwa and earned his National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Reporting to the Board of Governors, Mr. Mills will be responsible in fulfilling CHRD’s mission and create strategies that ensure its successful implementation
