The OMP is willing to call foreign expertise in the field of forensics for the Matale Mass grave. The skeletal remains which were obtained from the Matale mass grave were sent to Florida for identification, however these skeletal remains were identified as those of Dogs.

The Matale mass Grave excavation wasn’t carried out by professionals therefore the OMP’s Chairman Mr. Saliya pieris PC suggested that forensic experts to be called for technical assistance.

As for the Mannar mass grave, Mr. Saliya pieris said that it is due to the lack of funds that the excavation process is being delayed. He recommends that funds should be allocated to expedite the excavation process carried out by the judicial medical officers and the Archeologists team. He further added that first the age of these skeletal remains has to be identified through carbon dating after which the identification of the remains can be done.
