Association of the Relatives of the Enforced Disappeared meets with the Sectary General of SCRM on OMP

In the wake of the president of Sri Lanka signing the much awaited Office of the Missing Person act on July 20th 2017. CHRD organized a meeting on August 3rd 2017 where civil society activist from the north and head of the association of the relatives of the enforced disappeared mainly from the districts of Killinochi, Mullitiviu and Batticola were present to discuss consultation with affected families , linkage to prosecution and access for representatives at OMP was some of the issues discussed. Further it unanimously decided to meet with Manotithawalla Sectary General of the Secretariat for Coordinating Reconciliation Mechanisms (SCRM) and submit a letter on the matters discussed about. Therefore on August 16th 2017 the members of the association of the relatives of the enforced disappeared from the North and East together with CHRD, Maatram foundation, Tamil Civil Society Forum, Adayalam Center for Policy Research and Mannar Citizens Committee her came together and met with the Secretary General at the SCRM and handed over an appeal.
